“I have known Raleigh for 9 years.  We first met at a Womens' Outward Bound Rock Climbing Training in Joshua Tree. She guided for OB and in Nepal for years, in addition to other guiding jobs (ice climbing, etc.) and personal climbs, one of which was to the Himalaya to climb successfully to the summit of Ama Dablam.

I've also had the privilege of working with Raleigh, and as usual, was truly impressed with her technical skill and with what a wonderful human being she is. I would send anyone on a trip with her in charge, completely confident that they would have a life changing experience of the best kind possible. She is safe, fun, ethical, talented, knowledgeable and above all, compassionate.  I absolutely recommend her without reservation.”

Why women's adventures?

Because we are daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends, aunts and grandmothers.  Sometimes we just need "me-time" and "girl-time" and what better way to reconnect with our feminine selves than on a fun and supportive adventure in a beautiful and remote part of the world?

In 2008 Lotus Expeditions and Wild Women Workshops offer three all-women hiking and yoga adventures in Asia.

Hiking and Yoga: Central Tibet Cultural and Trekking Tour

Trip Difficulty: Moderate

Join Lotus Expeditions and Wild Women Workshop'sPetit Pinson on an all-women expedition to Beijing, Lhasa and the remote mountain regions of Central Tibet.

Our journey begins in Beijing, China en route to Lhasa, Tibet.  Explore Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City before you fly into the high altitude capital of Tibet.  A few days in Lhasa will allow your heart and lungs to adjust to the high altitude while you explore the Jokhang Temple, the Potala Palace and other important Buddhist sites throughout Lhasa.

A seven-day driving and trekking tour will take you into the remote regions of the Himalaya where Tibetan nomads still practice their subsistence lifestyle.  Visit monasteries and nunneries and undertake religious koras (or circuits) with Buddhist pilgrims.  Click here for more information on Women's Hiking and Yoga in Tibet.
